We are a collective of emerging and established contemporary artists called the Paula Ysom Group. Research, critique and education are the pillars that support and define the work environment for the group.
Working within the perspective of an artist "incubator" concept, we strive to develop great contemporary artists. By partnering with international curators, museums and other established professionals, we carefully select and promote those artists that have what it takes to succeed in the ever-evolving contemporary art market. Criteria include: solid theoretical proposals, consistent body of work and a sustained curriculum. This philosophy has positioned the Paula Ysom Group as a valid resource for collectors, galleries and museums.
The Paula Ysom Group operates mainly in the virtual marketplace. We have chosen this approach for several reasons:
- Economics: Fewer expenses translate to longevity and the ability to focus on the quality of the work. Although sales are a necessary and welcome part of life, they are not the main driver.
- Freedom: No storefront allows us more flexibility to adjust the direction of the group as careers develop and change.
- Access: We are accessible to and from anywhere in the world, no geographical boundaries.
Of course, showing the work publicly is de rigueur and we accomplish this by strategically doing two things: participating in selected art fairs and biennials and organizing curated exhibitions in public spaces.
